Association of Kiel Ball Game Clubs

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Verband Kieler Ballspielvereine (VKB) was a local football association in the Fördestadt Kiel .

founding

The VKB was founded on February 25, 1903 as the first football association in what is now Schleswig-Holstein . The four founding clubs were 1. Kieler FV 1900 , FC Holstein 1902 Kiel , Kieler SC 1899 and 1. Ellerbeker FV 1903. All of the clubs together had 130 members, a considerable number for the time. First chairman was Georg P. Blaschke (co-founder of FC Holstein Kiel and later secretary of the DFB for many years) from 1. Kieler FV 1900, second chairman R. Weiss (Kieler SC 1899), secretary W. Hostmann (1. Kieler FV 1900), cashier Mr. Duden (FC Holstein 1902 Kiel), 1st assessor W. Schlappkohl (1st Ellerbeker FV 1903) and 2nd assessor F. Henert (Kieler SC 1899). The association's colors were black, red and gold.

In the course of the year also joined the FC Kilia 1902 Kiel , FC Holsatia 1903 Kiel and the Werftpark SpVgg. 1901 Gaarden joined the association. In early 1904, SC Concordia 1903 Gaarden and FC Borussia 1903 Gaarden also joined the VKB.

development

The first championship season was held in the 1903/04 season in three divisions. Holstein, Kilia and the KFV were assigned to 1st class, and they also occupied the places in the final table in this order. Their three reserve teams played in the 2nd class, as well as the Kieler SC 1899. The 3rd class consisted of the Holstein III, Kilia III and KFV III, as well as the FC Holsatia. After joining, Borussia and Concordia also took part in the games in the second half of the season. After the end of the season there was a relegation game between 1. Kiel FV 1900 and FC Kilia 1902 Kiel II, which the KFV could just win.

Holstein played its home games on Gutenbergplatz, Kilia and SC 1899 on the youth playground in Gutenbergstraße and the KFV on the large parade ground at Vieburger Gehölz.

Before the beginning of the 1904/05 season, the association had seven clubs with 20 teams and a total of around 500 members. At the same time, the Kiel gymnastics clubs had around 3,000 members.

In the autumn of 1904, the four clubs Kieler SC, Holsatia, Concordia and Borussia were excluded from the Kieler Ballspielvereine association due to overdue contributions. Kilia also resigned from the association to protest against this decision. The five clubs then founded the Kiel Football Association . Since only two clubs remained in the VKB, the championship had to be canceled for the 1904/05 season. In January 1905 Kilia rejoined the association, but due to the advanced time in the season there were only competitions (friendly games). Furthermore, an association team was formed that played against SC Germania 1887 Hamburg and FC Victoria 1895 in Hamburg and Kiel.

Even after the North German Football Association (NFV) was founded on April 15, 1905 , the Kieler Ballspielvereine continued to exist and only became part of the NFV in 1907 as its District II.
