The Futsal League West , until 2016: WFLV Futsal League , is the highest futsal league in North Rhine-Westphalia . It was founded in 2005 and is under the direction of the West German Football Association . The master and runner-up qualify for the German Futsal Championship . The record champions with eight titles are the UFC Münster , the current title holder is the MCH Futsal Club Bielefeld-Sennestadt .

history

The Futsalliga West was introduced in 2005 and comprised nine teams in the first season. From the second season onwards, the teams had to qualify for the WFLV Futsal League through the respective championships of the three regional associations of Westphalia , Lower Rhine and Middle Rhine . Eight teams have participated in the league since the 2010/11 season. At the same time, the ascent and descent was introduced. For the 2014/15 season, the league was expanded to ten teams. In summer 2016, the name was changed to Futsalliga West.

The Futsalliga West provided the eventual German champions three times. In 2006 and 2008 the UFC Münster and in 2009 the Futsal Panthers Cologne secured the German championship title. Holzpfosten Schwerte was German runner-up in 2014 and 2015. Other German runners-up from the Futsalliga West were the Futsal Panthers Cologne 2012 and 2018 and the UFC Münster 2013.

The Futsal Bundesliga will be introduced for the 2021/22 season, so that the Futsal League West will only be second class.

mode

The Futsalliga West consists of ten teams that compete against each other in the league system . Each team plays twice against every other team from the league, with one game taking place in their own hall and one in the hall of the respective opponent. There are three points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a loss. If two or more teams are tied, first the direct comparison and then the better goal difference counts .

At the end of the season, the master and runner-up qualify for the German Futsal Championship , while the last three teams have to be relegated. The relegated teams will be replaced next season by the champions of the Oberliga Westfalen, Mittelrheinliga and Niederrheinliga .
