Futsal Panthers Köln is a German futsal club from Cologne . The club once won the DFB Futsal Cup , the German championship in futsal.

history

The club was founded in 2005 and is the oldest futsal club in town. The club's founders were students from the German Sport University . In the year it was founded, the team qualified for the newly created WFLV Futsal League and became its runner-up behind UFC Münster in 2009 . Cologne qualified for the DFB Futsal Cup 2009 and were able to secure the German championship title after a 14:13 penalty shootout against VfV 06 Hildesheim . Two years later, the Cologne team became champions of the WFLV Futsal League for the first time. In 2012 the Futsal Panthers reached the final of the DFB Futsal Cup again, but lost to the Hamburg Panthers 2: 4. After a change in personnel, the Cologne team were relegated from the WFLV Futsal League a year later after losing their relegation. Already in the following season 2013/14 the immediate promotion followed. Two years later, only because of the poorer direct comparison with the MCH Futsal Club Sennestadt , the Cologne team missed the runner-up and the renewed qualification for the now called German Futsal Championship . In 2018 the Cologne team became champions of the Futsalliga West and qualified for the 2018 German Futsal Championship . There the team lost to VfL 05 Hohenstein-Ernstthal in the final after extra time with 5: 6.

The women's team of the Futsal Panthers was one of the founding members of the WFLV Women's Futsal League in 2015 .
