The UFC Münster (officially: Universitäts-Futsal-Club Münster eV ) is a German futsal club from Münster . The club won the DFB Futsal Cup , the German championship in futsal , twice .

history

In 2002 a football team from the Westphalian Wilhelms University traveled to Portugal for an indoor tournament . To the surprise of the German players, the futsal rules were used there. After returning, the UFC Münster association was founded, whereby the name is supposed to represent the bond with the university. A year later, the club first won the WFLV Futsal League , which was played for the first time, and qualified for the DFB Futsal Cup . There the UFC secured the title with a 3-1 shootout against SVG Göttingen 07 . Two years later , the second German championship title followed after a 6: 3 final victory over TSC Stuttgart .

While the Münsteraner remained the dominant team on the West German level, the successes on the national level became rarer. In 2009 , the UFC finished fourth and three years later . In the meantime, the club had withdrawn from the WFLV Futsal League after the 2009/10 season to protest against the low status of futsal in the associations. After only one year, the team rose again and became champions straight away. It was not until 2013 that the Münster team were able to reach the final of the German championship again, but they lost 3: 6 against the Hamburg Panthers . UFC Münster took part in the UEFA Futsal Cup twice and was eliminated in the qualifying round on both occasions.

In the following years, the Münster people went down to the table cellar. In 2019 , the UFC only secured relegation on the last day of the match with a 3-0 win at Wuppertaler SV . The Münsteraner benefited from the simultaneous 4-6 defeat of the direct competitor PCF Mülheim at Holzpfosten Schwerte .

The women's team became champions of the WFLV Futsal League, which was played for the first time in 2016, and was also able to celebrate the championship in the following two years. The home venue is the university sports hall in Münster.
