Muhammet Raci "Memos" Sözer (born October 18, 1994 in Bielefeld ) is a German futsal and football player of Turkish descent.

Career

Soccer

Muhammet "Memos" Sözer began his sporting career when he was three years old in football at TuS Lipperreihe in Oerlinghausen and later moved to VfB Schloß Holte . After he had outgrown the A-youth, the attacking midfielder joined the Bielefeld Westphalian league club VfL Theesen in 2014 . Sözer returned to the national league team VfB Schloß Holte for the 2016/17 season . After only one year, he went back to VfL Theesen and rose with his team to the Westfalenliga in 2018. A year later Sözer moved to league rivals SC Roland Beckum . There he played for a year and wanted to switch to league rivals SV Spexard from Gütersloh for the 2020/21 season , as the Beckum team withdrew their team from the Westphalia League. Since Spexard also withdrew their team from the Westphalia League, Sözer returned to VfL Theesen.

Futsal in a club

He began his futsal career in 2013 at the MCH Futsal Club Sennestadt from Bielefeld. With the Sennestädtern, Sözer immediately became Westphalia champion 2013/14 and rose to the first-class WFLV futsal league . After a fourth place in 2014/15, the Sennstadt team became runner-up behind the wooden posts in Schwerte in the 2015/16 season . Sözer was the top scorer in the league this season with 28 goals . The MCH Futsal Club Sennestadt thus qualified for the German Futsal Championship 2016 , where the team won in the quarter-finals against VfL 05 Hohenstein-Ernstthal in their home hall. In this game Sözer contributed a goal and the template for the decisive 5: 4 by Ersin Gül. In the semifinals, the MCH Futsal Club Sennestadt failed 5-2 in the eventual title holder Hamburg Panthers despite two goals from Sözer . Sözer scored both goals in the 2-0 final win in the Futsal Westphalia Cup 2015/16 against Holzpfosten Schwerte.

National futsal team

In February 2016 Sözer was appointed to the German national futsal team by national coach Paul Schomann . Sözer made his debut on January 26, 2017 in the qualifying game for the 2018 European Championship against Armenia , which the German team lost 3-5. Two days later he scored his first international goal in a 3-3 draw against Latvia .
