John Sivebæk (born October 25, 1961 in Vejle ) is a former Danish football player .

Career

Sivebæk started his career with his hometown club Vejle BK . In 1981 he won his first title and won the Danish Cup . In 1984 he won a championship for the first time . A year after the title he moved to England to Manchester United . After only two seasons it went south to France to AS Saint-Étienne . After four years in Saint-Étienne , he tried his hand at Monaco at AS Monaco , also in the French league. Then Sivebæk went on to Italy to Pescara Calcio . After eight years abroad, the full-back returned to Denmark in 1994 and played again for Vejle BK. After a season with the regular club, he hung two more at Aarhus GF , where he was able to win a Danish cup. Here he ended his career.

Sivebæk made his international debut on May 5, 1982 in a friendly against Sweden (1-1) in Copenhagen . Another 86 international matches were to follow, scoring a goal in 1986 against Ireland in qualifying for the World Cup . He took part in the European Championship in France in 1984 , where Denmark reached the semi-finals, where he was used three times. He also took part in the 1986 World Cup in Mexico , where the Danes were eliminated in the round of 16. Sivebæk was used twice. He also took part in the European Championship in Germany in 1988 (from the group stage), where he was also used twice. Sivebæk achieved his greatest success on an international level at the European Championships in Sweden in 1992 when he became European champions with Denmark. He was used in five games and received a yellow card.
