Lars Elstrup (born March 24, 1963 in Råby , Denmark ) is a former Danish football player .

The striker played for IF Fjorden, Randers Freja , Brøndby IF , Feyenoord Rotterdam and Odense BK in the 1980s . In 1988 he made his debut in the Danish national football team , for which he should score 13 goals in 34 appearances by the end of his career.

In 1989 he moved for 650,000 pounds as the most expensive purchase in the history of this club to the first division partner Luton Town FC in England . After some initial difficulties, he secured Luton with 18 goals in the 1990/91 season, relegation, but moved back to Odense for the 1991/92 season. In 1992 he was sensationally European champion with the subsequently nominated Danish national team .

A year later Elstrup gave up football and joined a sect. He claims to have made several suicide attempts and made headlines when he exposed himself in a Copenhagen shopping center.

After leaving the sect, Elstrup was no longer able to gain a foothold as a professional athlete. He continued to play in the amateur field, was active as a football commentator and reported on his later discontinued personal website, for which he also posed naked, of his continued attempts at "self-healing".

On August 26, 2016, during the first division game between Randers FC and Silkeborg IF (1-0), Elstrup ran naked across the field as a speedster until he could be caught and led away by stewards.
