Glen Riddersholm (born April 24, 1972 in Esbjerg ) is a Danish football coach . He is currently in charge of SønderjyskE Fodbold in the Superliga , Denmark's top division, in his native country .

Career

Glen Riddersholm was initially the youth coach at Ikast fS and FC Midtjylland , which had emerged from a merger of the first teams from Ikast fS and Herning Fremad. From July 1, 2006, he was the coach of the Danish U17 national team . He gave up this post on July 1, 2008 to become assistant coach of FC Midtjylland. At Ulvene , who play their home games in Herning in Central Jutland, Riddersholm was assistant coach under Thomas Thomasberg and Allan Kuhn , before he was promoted to the new head coach in April 2011 after Kuhn's resignation. Initially intended as an interim solution, it was declared a permanent solution in May 2011. Under Glen Riddersholm, FC Midtjylland reached the final of the national cup competition a year earlier, just like under their predecessor Allan Kuhn, where the Middle Jutes were defeated by FC Nordsjælland in a remake of the 2010 final . Four years later - in 2015 - FC Midtjylland managed to win the Danish championship, but Riddersholm resigned as head coach of the FCM on June 25, 2015.

In December 2015 he took over the coaching position at Aarhus GF , which he led to relegation as a climber with tenth place. In the following season it was enough to stay in the league before Riddersholm was sacked on September 30, 2017 and replaced by David Nielsen , a former player from Fortuna Düsseldorf . From autumn 2018 he was the sports director of the first division promoter Vendsyssel FF from Hjørring in North Jutland , but on February 1, 2019, Glen Riddersholm became the new head coach of SønderjyskE Fodbold from Haderslev ( German Hadersleben ) not far from the German border . After SønderjyskE Fodbold finished eleventh in the regular season, they finished second in Group A in the relegation round and thus qualified for the play-offs for participation in the Europa League, in the Riddersholm with his team against Randers FC retired. In the following season he led SønderjyskE Fodbold to the Danish Cup after a 2-0 final win against Aalborg BK and thus to the first title in the club's 16-year history.
