Peter Sørensen

Peter Sørensen (born March 24, 1973 in Silkeborg ) is a former Danish football player and current football coach . Nowadays he looks after the first division club Hobro IK .

Career as a player

During his active career, Peter Sørensen was under contract with his youth club Silkeborg IF , in the Netherlands with FC Groningen , again with Silkeborg IF, in Sweden with Malmö FF and in Norway with Ham-Kam .

Coaching career

After retiring from his career, Peter Sørensen supervised a football academy in Aarhus and was a co-commentator for a Danish television station before he was hired as an assistant coach at Vejle BK during the winter break of the 2006/07 season . At the end of 2008 he resigned and became head coach of local rivals FC Fredericia , who are playing in the second Danish division . This looked after Sørensen until the end of the 2009/10 season before he moved to the first division relegated Aarhus GF . This led Peter Sørensen immediately back to the Danish House of Lords and qualified fifth for the UEFA Europa League , where Aarhus were surprisingly eliminated in the second qualifying round against Georgian representatives FC Dila Gori . In the 2012/13 season, Aarhus GF escaped relegation to the 1st division by three points in tenth place. Sørensen was released on February 26, 2014.

On May 15, 2014 he took over the coaching position at his former club Ham-Kam in Norway, which now play in the second Norwegian league. Almost two months later, he resigned. On April 13, 2015 Peter Sørensen was again coach at the second division club FC Fredericia. He led the club, which was in danger of relegation, to keep the league. After the rescue, Sørensen left the club again. On September 30, 2015 he was introduced as the new coach at his youth club Silkeborg IF - previously relegated to the Danish second division. He led the club as second in the table for promotion to the super league. Peter Sørensen was released in Silkeborg on August 14, 2018.

On February 21, 2019 he became the new head coach of Hobro IK .
