Luca Maurice Mack (born May 25, 2000 in Bietigheim-Bissingen ) is a German football player . He is under contract with VfB Stuttgart .

family

Mack is the son of Dirk Mack (longtime junior director of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim , sports director / assistant coach at the Chinese first division club Shandong Luneng Taishan ) and grew up in Löchgau . His godfather is the former Bundesliga professional Julian Schuster , who also comes from Löchgau .

Career

Mack has been a member of FV Löchgau since 2003 and started playing football there. In 2012 he moved to the U13 of VfB Stuttgart and went through the other youth teams there. For the 2018/19 season, under coach Nico Willig, he became the captain of the VfB U19 team and led the team in the 2018/19 A-Juniors Bundesliga into the championship final, which they lost to the Borussia Dortmund U19s , and the Title in the 2018/19 DFB Junior Club Cup . At the start of the 2019/20 second division season , Mack was officially accepted into the Swabian professional squad and signed a contract that runs until the end of June 2022.

From the 2019/20 season onwards, Mack trained regularly with the pros and played for the second team in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg . There he made his competitive debut in the active area on August 10, 2019 at SV Oberachern . Two days later he was in the squad of coach Tim Walter's professionals for the first time at the DFB Cup match at Hansa Rostock , but was not used. In mid-September 2019, he broke an ankle in a league game at 1. Göppinger SV . In January 2020 he returned to professional training under coach Pellegrino Matarazzo . In September 2019, Mack was nominated for the first time for the German U20 national team by U20 national coach Manuel Baum . He made his debut there on September 5, 2019 in the game against the Czech Republic, when he came on for Thomas Keller in the 78th minute .
