Career
society
Born in Athens , Mavropanos began his career in the youth of Apollon Smyrnis , where he stayed for eight years. He then moved to PAS Giannina , a club in the Greek Super League , in January 2016 , and signed a three and a half year contract. Mavropanos made his debut for PAS Giannina in the Greek Cup on November 29, 2016 . He played a total of 23 competitive games for the club and scored three goals.
On January 4, 2018, Mavropanos signed a contract with Arsenal FC . On January 15 of the same year, he helped the club's U23s beat Manchester United's reserves 4-0 and played the full 90 minutes. In February 2018, the Greek was nominated as a supplementary player for the knockout phase of the Europa League , but not used in this competition. On matchday 36 of the 2018/19 season , Mavropanos made his Premier League debut in a 2-1 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford .
In the absence of prospects among the professionals, the central defender was loaned to the German second division club 1. FC Nürnberg , which, unlike Arsenal, was still on the winter break, in mid-January 2020 until the end of the season. As part of the back four, the Greek was seeded immediately and had completed 11 second division games by the end of the season, all of them from the start; He missed four games due to minor injuries. With a duel rate of 67.69%, Mavropanos was able to set itself apart from the rest of the league, but had to contest relegation against FC Ingolstadt 04 with the club as tenth in the table , through which relegation could be achieved.
For the 2020/21 season, Mavropanos stayed in Germany and switched to the Bundesliga on loan to the newly promoted VfB Stuttgart .
National team
Between 2017 and 2018, Mavropanos made four international matches for Greece's U21s .
