history

The club was founded in 1966 as a result of the merger of two Ioannina-based teams. When Atromitos and Averof merged, the association PAS Ioannina was founded. The club was known as a club for Argentine immigrants in Greece in the late 1970s and early 1980s when eight squad players were from Argentina. This time was the most successful time of the club, the club got the name Ajax of Epirus as a nickname. After the superstars left, the club stumbled in the 1980s and became the elevator team. The club kept this up in the 1990s. 2001 succeeded in rising again. After financial problems, the club had to relegate from the first division in 2003. The club rose to the fourth division. 2006 succeeded the promotion to the second division of the country, where the club played until 2008/09 and was able to rise again. The team went straight back to the Football League . Again she was able to qualify for the first division in 2010/11. The best placings in the Greek elite class were fifth in the 1975/76, 1977/78 and 2012/13 seasons.
