Atakan Karazor (born October 13, 1996 in Essen ) is a German football player . The defensive player is under contract with VfB Stuttgart .

Career

The defensive midfielder started playing football in his hometown of Essen at Black and White . At the age of 16 he moved to the youth department of VfL Bochum , where he was trained for three years. In 2015, Borussia Dortmund became aware of the tall midfielder and signed him for his U23s . With the black and yellow, with whom he always played for promotion in the Regionalliga West , he quickly became a regular player, but was also noticed by a tough game and many resulting warnings. After his first season, Karazor received a professional contract in autumn 2016, but only played in friendly matches for the professionals.

This prompted him to move from the Pott to Holstein Kiel in the summer of 2017 , where he signed a contract valid until 2020. He made his professional debut in the 2nd division in the home game against Union Berlin on January 23, 2018.

For the 2019/20 season, Karazor moved to Bundesliga relegated VfB Stuttgart , with whom he received a contract until 2023. Under head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo , the man from Essen developed into a reliable support in defensive midfield and, after the failures of Marc-Oliver Kempf and Holger Badstuber, also in central defense. In nine games in which Karazor was part of the defensive network, VfB only allowed six goals. His good duel performance and his accuracy of fit were also praised in the club environment. As runner-up, Karazor and VfB went back to the top German division.
