Marcus Højriis Ingvartsen (born January 4, 1996 ) is a Danish football player . He is under contract with the German Bundesliga club 1. FC Union Berlin from the 2019/20 season . He also played for various Danish youth national teams and is part of the extended squad of the Danish senior team.

Marcus Ingvartsen grew up in Farum and joined Farum BK ( FC Nordsjælland from 2003 ) at the age of five . At the age of 18, he made his professional debut on February 28, 2014 in a 2-0 win on matchday 20 in the Superliga against Viborg FF . He had previously participated in the Viagreggio Cup with FC Nordsjælland's U-19s . The 2013/14 season, in which Ingvartsen was used for the professionals in four games, ended the club in sixth place in the table. In the 2014/15 season he played 14 games and scored his first goals in the Superliga on May 25, 2015 with two goals in a 4-2 win on matchday 31 against Hobro IK . Again, FC Nordsjælland was sixth in the league. In 2015/16 he made 25 appearances in the league game and scored five goals; FC Nordsjælland finished ninth in the final table of the Superliga. Ingvartsen achieved his breakthrough in the 2016/17 season when he scored 14 goals in 25 regular matches, in which FC Nordsjælland finished sixth in the table, and nine goals in ten games in the championship round, in which the club finished fourth . Ingvartsen was the top scorer with a total of 23 goals.

After several European clubs had expressed their interest in him, Ingvartsen moved to Belgium for KRC Genk for the 2017/18 season and signed a four-year contract. In his first season he was used 22 times and scored five goals; he finished with the team in fifth place in the table and qualified for the play-offs for the championship, in which the team also took fifth place. In the 2018/19 season he won the club's fourth championship title with KRC Genk. Also in this season he did not make the breakthrough (a total of eight appearances in the regular season and in the play-offs for the championship).

For the 2019/20 season , 1. FC Union Berlin , who had been promoted to the German Bundesliga , signed the striker and provided him with a contract that runs until June 2022. There he scored his first Bundesliga goal in a 2-0 win against SC Freiburg on matchday 8.

National team

Invartsen played five times for the Danish U16 national team in 2011 and 2012 and four times for the U17 , including the Syrenka Cup . For the Danish U19 , he played six games in 2014 and 2015 and scored two goals.

Ingvartsen has been playing for the Danish U21s since September 2015 and made six appearances in the qualifying matches for the 2017 European Championship . He was then nominated for the Danish squad for the finals in Poland . He was in the first two games against Italy and later title holder Germany; in the third and final group game against the Czech Republic he was substituted on in the 65th minute and scored the goal in the 90th minute to make it 4-2. Denmark's U21s were eliminated as third in the group.

On March 22, 2017, Ingvartsen was invited to the Danish senior national team for the World Cup qualifier against Romania for the first time , but was not used.
