Akaki "Andy" Gogia (born January 18, 1992 in Rustavi , Georgia ) is a German football player of Georgian origin.
Life
Akaki Gogia was born in the Georgian city of Rustavi . In 2001 the family moved to Halle (Saale) . He lives in Berlin-Friedrichshain.
Career
In the club
Gogia started playing football at the Halle club FSV 67 Halle. After his family moved to Hanover , he joined the youth department of Hanover 96 . He played there until 2004 and then switched to the youth team at VfL Wolfsburg . In 2009 he came to the second team of VfL, for which he made his first game on March 31, 2010.
For the 2011/12 season, Gogia moved on loan to the newly promoted Bundesliga club , FC Augsburg . The loan agreement had a term of two years. For FC Augsburg he made his debut in the Bundesliga on August 6, 2011 (1st matchday) in a 2-2 draw against SC Freiburg . At the beginning of July 2012, his loan contract was terminated prematurely and he returned to Wolfsburg. The next day it was awarded to FC St. Pauli for a season .
For the 2013/14 season he moved to Halleschen FC .
After two years, Gogia left Halle and joined the English second division club Brentford FC for the 2015/16 season .
In August 2016 he switched to German second division team Dynamo Dresden on loan for the 2016/17 season . The association also secured a purchase option. He was given the shirt number 2 here.
On July 1, 2017, 1. FC Union Berlin announced that the offensive all-rounder is moving to Berlin-Köpenick and will receive a contract until June 30, 2021.
In the national team
Gogia made his debut on March 23, 2010 for the German U-18 national team in a 1-1 draw in the friendly in Cloppenburg against France in the starting eleven. His last of four appearances he completed on June 6, 2010 in a draw against Croatia , when at the beginning of the second half for Bienvenue Basala-Mazana was used.
Gogia played his first game for the German U-19 team on November 17, 2010 in a 1-1 draw in Dresden against the Czech Republic , when he was substituted on in the 85th minute. His third and last game in this age group was the 1: 2 defeat against Belgium on March 25, 2011 in Völklingen , in which he achieved the 1-0 lead for his team.
At the moment he is only in possession of the German citizenship, which he does not want to give up at the moment in order to obtain the Georgian one, which would allow him to play in the national team of his country of birth.
