Nico Schlotterbeck (born December 1, 1999 in Waiblingen ) is a German soccer player . The defender is on loan from SC Freiburg to 1. FC Union Berlin and is a young German national player.
Career
Schlotterbeck began his football career with SG Weinstadt . After going through the youth teams of the Stuttgarter Kickers up to the U15 and a one-year stint at VfR Aalen , he switched to the youth team of Karlsruher SC in 2015 . There he rose to the U18 national team in April 2017 when he was used in the 3-0 win against Austria . In the summer of 2017, Schlotterbeck switched to the youth team of Bundesliga club SC Freiburg , where he was initially used by the A youth team. In the summer of 2018 he was promoted to the squad of the second team that played in the Regionalliga. On March 9, 2019, he was in the Bundesliga team for the first time at the game against Hertha BSC . At halftime, Schlotterbeck came on for Philipp Lienhart, who suffered from visual impairments, and thus made his Bundesliga debut. This was followed by four more appearances in the top German division this season . From the 2019/20 Bundesliga season onwards , he will also officially be part of the professional team of the sports club. For the 2020/21 season, he moved to 1. FC Union Berlin on loan for a year .
Schlotterbeck also made two appearances for the German U19 national team and is currently in the U21 squad .

Nico Schlotterbeck won the German Cup in 2018 with the U19 of SC Freiburg .
Others
His uncle Niels was also active as a professional soccer player and played for the Stuttgarter Kickers , SC Freiburg and Hannover 96 in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga , among others . His older brother Keven (* 1997) and his cousin Marvin Zimmermann (* 1999) are also soccer players.
