societies

Beginnings in Nigeria and Norway

Ujah played for Abuja FC and Warri Wolves in Nigeria . In February 2010 he completed a trial session at the Norwegian club Lillestrøm SK , after which he signed a four-year contract. At the club, where his compatriot Nosa Igiebor was also under contract, he quickly established himself in the starting line-up and scored his first goal in Northern Europe in his second game against Tromsø IL . In the course of the season he ousted the record player and goal scorer Arild Sundgot as striker and was one of the guarantors for reaching tenth place in the table. With 14 goals this season, he was tied with Steffen Iversen and Petter Vaagan Moen behind Mohammed Abdellaoue, who moved to Germany in the summer, and top scorer Baye Djiby Fall in third place on the 2010 season's goalscorers list . At the beginning of the following season he showed his goal risk and scored four goals in the 7-0 away win against the champions of 2008 Stabæk Fotball . He then scored regularly and after another four goals in a 4-2 win against Strømsgodset IF at the top of the scorers list, but after his departure in the summer he was ousted from the top and was four goals behind top scorer at the end of the season with 13 goals Mustafa Abdellaoue .

1. FSV Mainz 05

For the 2011/12 season, Ujah moved to Bundesliga club 1. FSV Mainz 05 , where he received a contract that was valid until June 30, 2015. On November 4, 2011, he scored his first two Bundesliga goals for Mainz in a 3-1 win against VfB Stuttgart . In the further course of the season he did not get past Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting , Ádám Szalai , Sami Allagui and Mohamed Zidan on the offensive, who was committed to Borussia Dortmund during the winter break ; until the end of the season, these were his only goals in twelve Bundesliga games.

1. FC Cologne

At the end of the summer transfer period , Ujah was loaned to 1. FC Köln for one season from August 31, 2012 . Under coach Holger Stanislawski he made his debut on the 5th matchday in the 2nd Bundesliga . After a poor start to the season with six winless games at the start of the season, the team found themselves in the bottom of the table, but as a regular goalscorer - in his 28 season appearances, in which he was in the starting lineup, he scored 13 goals as the club's top scorer - contributed to the race to catch up , who still gave hope to promotion in the club in the last third of the season. After only one win from the last four games of the season, however, the team only made it to fifth place in the table.

During the summer break of 2013, 1. FC Köln signed Ujah with a fixed four-year contract. At the end of the 2013/14 season he was promoted to the Bundesliga with 1. FC Köln . In the decisive home win against VfL Bochum on matchday 31, he finally made the promotion perfect with his goal to make it 3-1.

Via Bremen and China back to Mainz

For the 2015/16 season , Ujah moved to Werder Bremen and signed a contract that ran until June 2019. He scored eleven goals in 32 Bundesliga games and scored three times in five DFB Cup games. He went to China for the 2016 season to Liaoning Hongyun in the Chinese Super League . During the winter break of the 2017/18 season he returned to 1. FSV Mainz 05 .

1. FC Union Berlin

For the 2019/20 season, Ujah moved to 1. FC Union Berlin . He received a contract with the newcomer with a term until June 30, 2022.

National team

Ujah played two games for the Nigerian U-23 selection. He was appointed to the national team for the Africa Cup of Nations 2013 in South Africa by the Nigerian Football Association . However, he turned down this offer in order to concentrate on the second half of the season with 1. FC Köln . On June 1, 2013, he finally played his first international match for Nigeria in the friendly against Mexico when he came on for Joseph Akpala in the 45th minute of the game . With the national team he took part in the 2013 Confed Cup in Brazil .
