The Spišské Vlachy – Spišské Podhradie railway is a branch line in Slovakia . It runs in the landscape Zips of Spišské Vlachy (German Walldorf ) along the creek Klčovský Potok after Spišské Podhradie (German church plan ) and is about 9.5 km long.
history
The concession to build and operate a railway line from Wallendorf station of the Kaschau-Oderberger Bahn (Ks.Od.) to Kirchdrauf was granted to Kirchdraufer Mayor Alexander Fest. The 660,000 K expensive railway was officially opened on October 10, 1894. The company took over the Ks.Od.
Three locomotives from the Munich manufacturer Krauss & Co. , originally intended for the Budapest-Pécs line, were built for the railway. These were provided by the Ks.Od. assigned to class XIIa and assigned the numbers 551-553.
From July 2010 to April 2011, the traffic had to be stopped in order to have the bridge over the Hornád repaired after it was badly damaged in a flood.
On December 9, 2012, the scheduled travel was completely stopped. Freight traffic is of minor importance.
In the 2017 timetable year, three pairs of passenger trains ran again on Saturdays and Sundays from June 3 to August 27. The railway company responsible for these tourist services was LTE Logistik a Transport Slovakia .
