Spišské Vlachy (German Wallendorf , Hungarian Szepesolaszi , Latin Latina villa ) is a town in eastern Slovakia and is located in the traditional region of Spiš .
It was mentioned for the first time in 1243 (King Béla IV granted town charter ), and in 1412 the town was pledged to Poland by the Hungarian kings for 360 years. A hospital already existed in the 14th century and a Latin school is mentioned in 1592 . In 1666 and 1862 the city was destroyed by fire and rebuilt.
In 1923 Spišské Vlachy lost its town charter. In 1992 Spišské Vlachy was merged with Dobrá Voľa ("Gerhardshof") and is now a town again.
