Hincovce (German Hinsdorf , Hungarian Szepesnádasd - to 1895 Hincóctersztyán - to 1892 Hincóc ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with 238 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) and is part of the Spišská Nová Ves District , part of the Košický kraj , as well as for traditional Landscape of Spiš .

The community is located in the Hornádska kotlina basin in a narrow valley of the Peklisko brook , a tributary of the Hornád on the left bank . The center of the village is at an altitude of 440  m nm and is six kilometers from Spišské Vlachy and 16 kilometers from Spišská Nová Ves .

Meierhof, formerly the village of Trsťany (first mentioned in 1241), northwest of the main town, belongs to the municipality .

Neighboring communities are Spišské Podhradie (via the Katúň district ) in the north, Bystrany in the east and south, Spišský Hrušov in the west and Buglovce and Baldovce in the north-west.

history

Hincovce was first mentioned in writing as Hench in 1320 . Other historical names are Hangendorff (1421), Henczfalua (1464), Henczowtze (1565) and Hinzowze (1786). The village was founded in the 14th century after it was founded by the Count Henc , a relative of Jakob , the Spiš provost at the time. In 1462 the Polyánkay dynasty received the local property through an act of donation from Matthias Corvinus , later the place was in the territory of the Spiš Castle . In 1787 the village had 17 houses and 169 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 30 houses and 232 inhabitants, whose main source of income was agriculture.

Until 1918 the place in Zips County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

population

According to the 2011 census, 236 people lived in Hincovce, 230 of them Slovaks and one Pole . In the case of five residents, there is no information on ethnicity.

216 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church and one resident each for the Evangelical Church AB and one for the Greek Catholic Church. Five residents were non-denominational and the denomination of 13 residents was not determined.
