Betlanovce (German Bethelsdorf or Bethlensdorf , Hungarian Betlenfalva - until 1907 Betlenfalu ) is a municipality in eastern Slovakia .

Betlanovce is located in the Hornád Basin ( Hornádska kotlina ) on the Hornád River in the northern foothills of the Slovak Paradise , 13 km from Poprad .

history

The first written mention was in 1260 as Betlema . The population dealt with agriculture and forestry.

The Thurzo merchant family has its roots in the village.

According to the 2001 census, of 629 inhabitants: 570 were Slovaks (90.6%), 55 were Roma (8.7%) and others. 595 (94.6%) of the inhabitants stated that their denomination was Roman Catholic .
