Teplička (German Teplitz [s] or Teplitzchen , Hungarian Hernádtapolca - until 1907 Teplicska ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with a population of 1,154 (December 31, 2019) and is part of the Spišská Nová Ves District , part of the kraj Košický as well as for traditional Landscape of Spiš .

geography

The municipality is located on the northern slope of the Slovak Ore Mountains , more precisely its subunit Hnilecké vrchy at the transition to the northern valley basin Hornádska kotlina . The Hornád flows on the northern edge , in the village itself there are no significant bodies of water. The municipal area is hilly and characterized by pastures and, to a lesser extent, forests. The center of the village lies at an altitude of 550  m nm and is six kilometers from Spišská Nová Ves .

In addition to the main town, the municipality also includes the cadastral municipality of Šafárka, which is separated from the rest of the municipality by the municipality of Markušovce and thus forms an exclave .

Neighboring communities are Markušovce in the north, east and south as well as Spišská Nová Ves in the west, plus Hnilčík via the Šafárka exclave.

history

The place was first mentioned in writing in 1328 as Toplica and was owned by the Máriássy family . In 1787 the village had 54 houses and 464 inhabitants, 45 of whom were miners. In 1828 there were 70 houses and 501 inhabitants.

Until 1918 the place in Zips County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. During the time of the first Czechoslovak Republic, Teplička was a pastoral and agricultural village.

population

According to the 2011 census, Teplička had 1,167 inhabitants, of which 1,051 were Slovaks , 49 Roma and one Russian , one Russian and one Czech . Two residents stated a different ethnic group and 62 inhabitants did not provide any information on the ethnic group.

1010 residents professed to the Roman Catholic Church, 14 residents to the Greek Catholic Church, 13 residents to the Jehovah's Witnesses, three residents to the Evangelical Church AB and one resident each to the New Apostolic Church and one to the Orthodox Church; one resident professed a different denomination. 38 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 86 residents was not determined.
