history

The place was first mentioned in writing in 1246 as Zek and was originally a place of the border guards of the emerging Hungarian state. This is why the local nobles carried the de Szék title . It was not until 1525 that the Slavic form of the name appeared as Szlatwin . Until that year the village was owned by the Zsigray family , after which it came under the rule of the Spiš Castle and thus families such as Zápolya , Thurzo and Csáky were landowners. In 1828 there were 29 houses and 218 inhabitants, whose main source of income was agriculture.

Until 1918 the place in Zips County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.
