Markušovce (German Marksdorf , Hungarian Márkusfalva - older also Markusfalu ) is a municipality in Slovakia and is located in the Spiš .

The town of Štefanovce (German Stephansdorf / Tschepensdorf / Tschepansdorf , Hungarian Csépanfalu ) belongs to it .

Markušovce is largely inhabited by Roma , among whom there is a high rate of unemployment and most of them live in poor conditions. The television film Gypsies , a documentary by Hessischer Rundfunk , shows the life of the impoverished Roma in the community.
