Childhood and youth

Spalvis, the son of a former professional handball player, had emigrated to Germany with his mother from Lithuania at the age of six and initially settled in Leverkusen before the family moved to Frankfurt (Oder) and finally moved to Basel , Switzerland . He also lived in Grenzach-Wyhlen in Baden-Württemberg for seven years and attended a German school.

Career

society

Until 2012 Spalvis played in the junior teams of SV Weil in Basel's neighboring German city of Weil am Rhein and SC Freiburg . From the Fußballschule Freiburg Spalvis moved to Denmark in the A-youth of Aalborg BK . There he played another year in the junior division before coach Kent Nielsen appointed him to the professional squad in the 2013/14 season .

On August 26, 2013, Spalvis was part of the first team of the professional team in the 1-1 draw on matchday six in the game against FC Midtjylland . On October 6, 2013, he made his professional debut when he came on for Rasmus Jønsson in the 3-1 win on Matchday 11 at Viborg FF in the 74th minute . After two assists in the games against Brøndby IF on Matchday 19 and against Aarhus GF on Matchday 21, he scored his first two goals on March 23, 2014 in the 3-2 defeat in the away game against SønderjyskE . In the first year as a pro, he won with the team the double of Danish Championship and Cup . With eight goals in 17 league games, Spalvis was the team's second-best goalscorer behind Kasper Kusk , who had scored twelve times. In the following season he came to only six appearances in the league and two appearances in qualifying for the Champions League because of a cruciate ligament operation . In the league, he finished fifth with the team. In the 2015/16 season he made 30 appearances and 18 goals. He was the top scorer at the end of the season, finishing fifth with Aalborg BK. In the cup competition he came to three inserts and one goal; Aalborg BK was eliminated in the semi-finals against Aarhus GF.

For the 2016/17 season, Spalvis moved to the Portuguese first division club Sporting Lisbon . After knee surgery, he didn't play a game in the first half of the season and was awarded to city rivals Belenenses Lisbon on January 11, 2017 . A short time later, the loan contract was terminated and Sporting Lisbon wanted to loan Spalvis to the Norwegian first division club Rosenborg Trondheim on February 3, 2017 . However, after the medical examination and obtaining second opinions, Rosenborg Trondheim refrained from borrowing.

Since June 27, 2017, Spalvis completed a trial training session with the German second division club 1. FC Kaiserslautern and signed a loan agreement on July 5, 2017, which ran until June 30, 2018. On February 4, 2018, he scored both goals for FCK in a 2-1 win against Eintracht Braunschweig . Despite the already established relegation to the third division , 1. FC Kaiserslautern acquired the transfer rights to Spalvis on May 7, 2018, who had scored five goals in 24 second division appearances, and provided him with a contract until June 30, 2022 . Shortly after the start of the 2018/19 season , cartilage damage was found in his knee and he was out for the rest of the season.

National team

Spalvis made his debut on March 5, 2014 under coach Igoris Pankratjevas in the Lithuanian national team in the international match in Antalya, Turkey against Kazakhstan (1: 1); he was in the starting line-up and was replaced by Simonas Stankevicius after 59 minutes . He had previously been active in numerous Lithuanian junior teams. The striker played two games with the national team at the 2014 Baltic Cup . In his fourth game against Poland , which was played in Gdansk , he scored his first goal in the national shirt.
