Dylan Akpess Esmel (born March 20, 1998 in Ahouya-Dabou , Ivory Coast ) is a German - Ivorian football player . He is under contract with 1. FC Kaiserslautern .

Career

Esmel started his career at Borussia Dortmund . In 2010 he moved to the youth department of VfL Bochum , where he played for the club's U-17 team. From 2013 to 2017 he played at VfB Stuttgart , for whose U-17 and U-19 he was used. On August 1, 2017, Esmel moved to 1. FC Kaiserslautern. After contributing six goals and ten assists in 17 games in the Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz / Saar , he made his first short appearance on December 16, 2017 for the professional team in the 2nd Bundesliga . He came on as a substitute for Nicklas Shipnoski in the 82nd minute in the 1-1 draw against 1. FC Nürnberg .

On January 6, 2018, 1. FC Kaiserslautern announced that Esmel had signed a professional contract until 2021. The FCK rose from the second division at the end of the 2017/18 season .

On August 2, 2018, Esmel tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during training; he was out for months. On February 13, 2019, it was announced that Esmel had torn a cruciate ligament and damaged the meniscus shortly after recovering in a U21 test match. He was completely absent for another year.
