Avdo Spahić (born February 12, 1997 in Berlin ) is a Bosnian football goalkeeper who is under contract with 1. FC Kaiserslautern .
Career
In his youth, Spahić played for SFC Stern 1900 from 2005 to 2012 and for Tennis Borussia Berlin from 2012 to 2014 . He then moved to Energie Cottbus. There he initially played a few games for the U19 team, and at the end of the 2014/15 third division season sat on the bench as a substitute goalkeeper for the first team. In 2015 Spahić moved up to the professionals. He acted mostly as a substitute goalkeeper for the first team and played in parallel for the second team in the fifth-class Oberliga Nordost . There he came to a total of eight missions. In 2016 Spahić extended his contract, but still had to act as a substitute goalkeeper behind Alexander Meyer . On the 13th matchday of the 2016/17 season , he played his first league game for the first team because Meyer tore an inner ligament in his knee. Spahic ended the season with 20 appearances. After Meyers moved to VfB Stuttgart , Spahić was the new goalkeeper, but missed the first game of the season due to a concussion. He finished the season with Cottbus in 1st place. He made a total of 26 league appearances in which he only conceded ten goals and remained clean in 17 games. He also won the state cup with Cottbus .
After the rise Spahić remained the goalkeeper. He made his debut in the 3rd division on matchday 1, when he was in the starting line-up in a 3-0 win against Hansa Rostock on July 29, 2018 . As seventeenth in the table, FC Energie and Spahić were relegated back to the regional league at the end of the season.
At the beginning of July 2019, the Bosnian signed a two-year contract with former third division competitor 1. FC Kaiserslautern . The goalkeeper came to his first two appearances for the red devils in the Southwest Cup and otherwise sits on the bench as a replacement for regular goalkeeper Lennart Grill . After the announcement of Grill's change to the 2020/21 season , Spahić's contract term was extended from the beginning of April 2020 to June 2023. At the beginning of June 2020 he was used for the first time in a league game.
