Alexander Winkler (born January 26, 1992 in Munich ) is a German soccer player . The central defender is moving to 1. FC Kaiserslautern for the 2020/21 season .

Career

Winkler began playing soccer at the Munich district club SpVgg Feldmoching and was then trained at FC Bayern Munich until 2007 . As a 15-year-old he moved to the Munich area for SpVgg Unterhaching . There he was active for the B and A youth and was on October 10, 2010 in the fifth-class Bayernliga and thus for the first time in the men's area. A second appointment to the second team, again over 90 minutes, followed in spring 2011.

Before the start of the 2011/12 season , Winkler's contract was extended by two years and the move into the first team's squad followed. Actually, Winkler was initially only intended as a replacement, while he was still used in the Bayernliga team. On the 3rd match day, however, the central defender and captain Jonas Hummels tore a cruciate ligament and Winkler replaced him in four games. From March 2012, the defender was out due to a meniscus injury and was no longer on for the professionals.

In the summer of 2013, Winkler, whose contract had not been renewed, moved to SV Wacker Burghausen , for whose second team he played 23 Bayern league games until he was canceled at the end of the season. After a moderately successful year at SpVgg Neckarelz , the defender returned to SpVgg Unterhaching in 2015, which has meanwhile been relegated to the regional league . There he was able to establish himself as a regular player and rose to deputy captain behind Josef Welzmüller and Ulrich Taffertshofer . In spring 2017 he managed to return to the third division with the club as champions . As a result, the Munich player kept his regular place, occasionally led the team as captain and always kept the class with him.

For the 2020/21 season, Winkler moved to 1. FC Kaiserslautern on a free transfer , with whom he received a contract that ran until June 2022.
