Yannic Thiel (born October 22, 1989 in Düsseldorf ) is a German soccer player .

Career

Yannic Thiel started playing soccer at SC Unterbach and then moved to VfB 03 Hilden near his native Düsseldorf. As a 13-year-old he came to the Bavarian capital of Munich and went to the suburban club SC Planegg - Krailling . Three years later he went to the United States , at first only for a year in high school. Then he decided to go to college in Hastings , Nebraska . It took him four years to complete a Bachelor in Economics. In addition, he continued to play football intensively on the college team.

On his return, he applied for a Masters course in London . At the same time, he kept himself fit in the U23 team of FC Bayern Munich , where he had auditioned during his time in Planegg and made new contacts. Bayern brokered a contract offer for him from the partner club SpVgg Unterhaching for the 3rd division . Thiel decided to take the step into professional football and to put his studies on hold for a year. In fact, the midfielder was able to assert himself in the team from the start. In his first game at the beginning of the 2011/12 season , he also scored his first goal, which brought Unterhaching's first point of the season in the game against Preußen Münster . Then he stayed on the starting line-up on the following match days.

After a year he left Unterhaching again and signed a two-year contract with league rivals VfL Osnabrück . For the 2014/15 season , Thiel returned to SpVgg Unterhaching, for which he was used 32 times in the 3rd division. In the summer of 2015, Thiel switched to the second representative of FC Augsburg , where he ended his active career in 2017 and joined the FCA as a U16 coach in the youth department. Yannic Thiel holds the DFB Elite Youth License .
