The SpVgg Neckarelz is a sports club founded in 1921 from the Mosbach district of Neckarelz in the north of Baden-Württemberg .

history

The club was founded in 1921 as FV Neckarelz . The best-known division are the footballers who played in the Regionalliga Südwest from 2013/14 to 2015/16 and have already taken part in the DFB Cup twice. In the first round of 2009/10 they faced the German record champions FC Bayern Munich . The game took place due to the lack of spectator capacity in the local Elzstadion in the Rhein-Neckar-Arena in Sinsheim . Between 1974 and 1980 the team played in the (until 1978 third class) amateur league North Baden . 2010 SpVgg managed as a master of Verbandsliga Baden promotion to the fifth rate Oberliga Baden-Wuerttemberg , 2013, again a master of league promotion to the fourth-rate Regionalliga Southwest .

In April 2016 the club decided not to submit an application for admission to the 2016/17 regional league season. Economic reasons were cited for this, especially the meager average of 417 spectators per game. In addition, the Mannheim public prosecutor had previously investigated alleged tax evasion and non-payment of social security contributions. Eight players had already left the club during the winter break.
