Sergio Mario Peter (born October 12, 1986 in Mannheim ) is a former German soccer player . He played primarily in the left midfield .

Career

Peter began his career as an e-youth at TSV Mannheim-Schönau . From the B-youth of SV Waldhof Mannheim he came to the Youth Academy Brockhall , the junior academy of the Blackburn Rovers. In the first half of 2005 the English loaned him to the Belgian first division Cercle Bruges for six months . At the beginning of the 2005/2006 season he received a professional contract in Blackburn.

In the second team of the Rovers, Peter had impressed their coach, former Bayern player Mark Hughes . He placed him on January 7, 2006 for the first time in the first team, in the third round of the FA Cup against Queens Park Rangers . Blackburn won 3-0, Peter provided the templates for all three goals and was voted Man of the Match ("Player of the Match"). On February 25, 2006 he had his first appearance in the Premier League in the 2-0 win against Sunderland AFC . In September 2006 Peter made his first UEFA Cup game for Blackburn against FC Red Bull Salzburg . In May 2007 he signed a new three-year contract with the English.

Peter moved to Sparta Prague in January 2009 . During the return flight from the training camp from Hong Kong in summer 2009, Peter suffered a collapse on board the aircraft . The reason for this was probably the physical strain at the training camp, where Peter had lost ten kilograms in two weeks. Peter was in the hospital for two weeks and got anxious about breaking down again and again. He rarely left the house and wanted to be with his family all the time. Examinations confirmed that he was physically healthy again, but Peter was very unstable mentally. However, the club did not believe him and therefore dissolved the contract with Peter after only half a season. Peter was without a club and didn't want to play football anymore.

On September 1, 2010, he moved to SpVgg Neckarelz in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg . However, the collaboration ended after one season. The reasons for the breakup were his problems with obesity and persistent anxiety.

After a long break and therapy, Peter moved to VfR Bürstadt in the Darmstadt group league at the end of December 2012 . There he wanted to get fit and gain match practice in order to return to professional football. He also trained privately with a personal trainer on fitness and nutrition.
