Thomas Ulmer (born July 25, 1956 in Karlsruhe ) was a member of the CDU's European Parliament for Baden-Württemberg in the European People's Party from 2004 to 2014 .

Ulmer studied medicine in Heidelberg , Mannheim and Freiburg from 1976 until his doctorate in 1982 . From 1986 to 1988 Ulmer completed further training to become a specialist in general medicine , as well as further training in the areas of sports medicine , company medicine , radiation protection and emergency medicine . In 1986 Ulmer opened a general medical practice.

Political career

Ulm has been a city ​​councilor in Mosbach since 1984 . Since 2002 he has been chairman of the CDU parliamentary group. In the same year he also became a member of the district council of the Neckar-Odenwald district. He held this office until 1994. After a five-year break, Ulmer has been back in the district council since 1999. At Volksbank e. G. in Mosbach, he has been Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board since 1998. In 1990 Ulmer took over the office of deputy district chairman of the CDU Neckar-Odenwald district. In 1999 he became a member of the CDU North Baden district board, and a year later he was health policy spokesman for the CDU North Baden. In the European Parliament, Ulmer is a member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety , Deputy for the Committee on Regional Development , member of the delegation for relations with the Korean Peninsula , as well as deputy chairman for the delegation for relations with Switzerland, Iceland and Norway as well to the Joint Parliamentary Committee of the European Economic Area (EEA).
