Thomas C. Chattoe

Thomas C. Chattoe (born September 15, 1890 in Stafford , † September 27, 1982 in London / Ontario ) was a Canadian organist, choir director and music teacher of English origin.

Chattoe took piano and organ lessons at Stafford. Until 1913 he studied at the Midland Institute in Birmingham and at Birmingham University with Granville Bantock . During the First World War he was a soldier in France, after which he worked until 1928 as an organist and choirmaster in Liverpool and Birkenhead.

In 1929 he was appointed music director at the Metropolitan United Church in London / Ontario. He held this position for thirty years. Here he also completed the bachelor thesis on music in Canada, which began before the First World War. After 1934 he worked at the Western Ontario Conservatory as a teacher and examiner, in the latter position until he was 90.
