Morten Nordstrand (born June 8, 1983 in Hundested ) is a Danish football player. The striker is currently playing for the Danish first division club FC Nordsjælland .
Life
Before Morten Nordstrand started his career as a professional footballer, he attended a sports school in Nordjylland and played for the local club Frederikshavn fI . After leaving school, he moved to Zealand to play for Lyngby BK in the Danish Super League . Due to the threatening bankruptcy of the club, Nordstrand was called up as one of many players by the youth team in the winter of 2001 and made his debut for the A-team in December 2001 at the age of 17. The bankruptcy of Lyngby BK could not be averted, the club was relegated after the 2001/02 season and Nordstrand found itself in the fourth division, the Denmark Series . There he managed, however, to prove himself as a goalscorer and contributed to the fact that Lyngby BK rose again at the end of the 2003/04 season in the Danish second division . Together with his strike partner Christian Holst , he scored 43 goals in the 2004/05 season.
When his contract with Lyngby expired in July 2006, many top Danish clubs were interested in Nordstrand. Ultimately, he decided to sign with FC Nordsjælland .
In the first half of the 2006/07 season, Nordstrand was the top scorer with 10 goals in 18 games. Due to the good performance he was called up to the national team and made his debut in the friendly against Australia in February 2007 for the national team. Before that, he played three games for the unofficial national team of the Danish league on a tour of the USA, El Salvador and Honduras.
For FC Nordsjælland he played all 33 games in the 2006/07 season and scored a total of 19 goals.
On July 6, 2007, Nordstrand moved to reigning champions FC Copenhagen . The transfer fee was reported to be DKK 15 million (EUR 2 million).
