Peter Maduabuci Utaka (born February 12, 1984 in Enugu ) is a Nigerian football player on the position of a striker . He is the brother of 47-time Nigerian national player John Utaka .
Career
society
Utaka began his active career as a soccer player at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) in his native Enugu. In 1998 he first moved to the junior division of Ismaily SC in Egypt and then to that of the Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb . After a year he returned to his homeland, where he was in the offensive department of the soccer team at UNTH until 2004.
For the second division season 2002/03 he came to the Belgian club Patro Eisden Maasmechelen . In the 2003/04 season he came to his first competitive appearances in the men's team of the club. Due to his good offensive performance and the danger of scoring, clubs from the Jupiler Pro League , the highest Belgian football league, noticed him. In the winter break of the 2004/05 season he moved to the first division club KVC Westerlo .
On February 1, 2007 he moved to Royal Antwerp in the 2nd division. At the end of the season Utaka was able to record a total of 22 league goals in 34 completed games, where he scored eight times in a brace.
In August 2008 Utaka moved to the Danish first division club Odense BK . He signed a three-year contract. Overall, it brought Utaka in the 2008/09 season on 27 missions, in which he scored twelve goals and were six assists. With the team he was Danish runner- up, five points behind FC Copenhagen .
In the following season Utaka was used in all 33 championship games and came up with a record of 18 goals and six assists and was top scorer of the Danish Superliga 2009/10.
During the winter break of the 2011/12 season, Utaka moved to Dalian Aerbin in China for an estimated € 500,000 transfer fee . Since then he has played for various clubs in Asia and briefly returned to Denmark in 2018 to join Vejle BK .
He has been playing in Japan again since summer 2018 . First with Tokushima Vortis , then Ventforet Kofu and since the beginning of 2020 with Kyōto Sanga .
National team
In September 2009 Utaka was first called up by Shaibu Amodu to a qualifier for the 2010 World Cup against Mozambique for the senior national team of Nigeria , but was not used. On March 3, 2010 Utaka made his national team debut under the new head coach Lars Lagerbäck .
