Erik Bo Andersen (born November 14, 1970 in Dronningborg near Randers ) is a former Danish football player. He played six games for the Danish national football team .

Career

society

Erik Bo Andersen was born in Dronningborg not far from Randers . He started his career at the local club Dronningborg Boldklub . He later moved to Aalborg BK , where he joined the professional squad in January 1992 and made his league debut in April. He spent most of his first year at Aalborg in the reserve team until his breakthrough in March 1993 with two goals in the cup match against BK Frem København . From this time he proved regularly its sovereignty in front of goal, earning him the nickname Red Romario , alluding to the accuracy Romario red and Andersen's hair. In the 1994/95 season he scored two hat tricks and once he scored four goals in a 5-0 win over Aarhus GF . At the end of the season he was the league's top scorer with 24 goals this season and Aalborg managed to take the title for the first time in the club's history. In the first half of the 1995/96 season he scored thirteen in twenty games, including two hat tricks.

In February 1996 he moved to Scotland for record champions Glasgow Rangers for £ 1.2million . There he played with his compatriot Brian Laudrup . During his time with the Rangers, he was nicknamed "Bambi" due to technical deficiencies and his awkward style of play. His worst moment was arguably during the derby against Dundee United , when he hit the crossbar from four meters. But he made up for that at Old Firm when he came on as a substitute and scored two goals 3-1 win over arch-rivals Celtic Glasgow . He was Scottish champion with the Rangers in 1996 and 1997, but Andersen never made it to the starting line-up and was not even allowed to train with the first team in the end. When the Rangers signed Marco Negri in the summer of 1997 , Andersen wanted to leave the club. A number of clubs were interested in him, but the Rangers asked for a far too high transfer fee. Therefore, he refused the bonus of 300,000 pounds, which the Rangers still owed him from in order to be able to leave the club.

In October 1997 he finally found a new club, he moved to Odense BK for 800,000 pounds . Andersen scored six goals in sixteen games, but could not save his team from relegation at the time. Therefore, in July 1998 he moved to the German club MSV Duisburg for 9.6 million Danish kroner , where he was in a team with his compatriot Stig Tøfting . He suffered an injury during pre-season training and was out for a month and a half. When he was fit again, he couldn't get beyond a role as a substitute player and was therefore not in good shape in Duisburg . After 25 games, he could only score two goals and was therefore awarded from January to June 2000 to Vejle BK , where he played under his former coach in Aalborg Poul Erik Andreasen . After 14 games and seven goals Vejle was relegated and Andersen left the club. However, he did not want to return to Duisburg and therefore moved to Odd Grenland in Norway in July 2002 .

There he was signed to replace the sold Frode Johnsen and played there with his former teammate Christian Flindt-Bjerg . The transfer fee of 2.8 million Danish kroner was a record sum for Odd Grenland. After a few league games and winning the 2000 cup, he suffered a serious knee injury in autumn 2000. After a year off, he was still unable to play in August 2001. Due to complications, it took almost another six months. During his injury Grenland did not even provide medical staff, he had to take care of himself, but got help from his old club Aalborg BK . Therefore, he returned to Aalborg in January 2002. But due to further injuries he was not in the starting eleven and when he repeatedly injured his knee in the spring of 2003, he decided to end his active career.

National team

Andersen was called up for the first time in 1995 for the Danish national soccer team and made his debut in April 1995 against Macedonia , where he came on in the second half for his then teammate Peter Rasmussen . During his time with Rangers was part of the Danish squad for the 1996 European Football Championship in England and completed three minutes in the last group game in a 3-0 win over Turkey . This was his sixth and last international match, in none of which he scored a goal.

In January 1998 he completed four international matches for the national team of the Danish Superliga .

After his active career

After retiring from professional football, he returned to his former youth club Dronningborg Boldklub , where he worked as a coach in the amateur league.

In 2005 he stood as a candidate for the liberal party Venstre for the local council of Randers Commune . He got 217 votes and was elected to the parish council with a margin of thirteen votes.

Andersen founded a company called EBA Invest near Dronningborg , which deals with real estate development. In 2004 Andersen bought large fields outside Randers, from which he developed a residential area with 65 building lots.
