The Freiburg football school was opened in September 2001 by SC Freiburg in the traditional Möslestadion near the Black Forest Stadium in Freiburg im Breisgau . The showcase project caused a lot of public attention. In the association you see it as a consistent step towards implementing your own philosophy. Construction of the facility around the soccer school began in October 2000.

The Freiburg football school is nationwide exemplary for youth work and the promotion of young talent through a club. The club invested more than 20 million D-Marks in the modernization and expansion of the urban facility, which for decades was the sporting home of local rivals Freiburg FC . The city of Freiburg supported the project with a grant of five million D-Marks, the club received 1.7 million D-Marks from funds from the Badischer Sportbund.

Mainly on the initiative of the former long-time SC Freiburg trainer Volker Finke and with the support of President Achim Stocker , the soccer school for the youth work of the sports club was founded. The first director of the Freiburg football school was Andreas Bornemann , until he became manager of SC Freiburg in February 2002. From 2003 to 2013 Jochen Saier headed the soccer school. The school has been run by Andreas Steiert since 2013, until 2015 he did this together with Sebastian Neuf. In 2016, Steiert joined Martin Schweizer as sporting director.
