Jochen Saier

Jochen Saier (born April 20, 1978 in Lahr ) is a German sports economist and has been sports director or sports director of SC Freiburg since April 2013 .

Life

Saier grew up in Zell-Weierbach and played soccer in the youth of SV Oberweier. He graduated from Schiller-Gymnasium in Offenburg and after graduating from high school he studied sports economics at the University of Bayreuth and in 2001 for one year business administration at Northeastern University in Boston . He financed his studies in Boston through a sports scholarship, under which he played soccer for the Northeastern Huskies. He has been working full-time at SC Freiburg since 2002. He completed his studies with a thesis on "Psychosocial Resources in Youth Football". At SC Freiburg he followed Andreas Bornemann in 2003 as junior coordinator and head of the Freiburg football school . In April 2013 he and Klemens Hartenbach initially became provisional sports director as the successor to Dirk Dufner , who had moved to Hannover 96 , and moved up to the club's board in October 2014. He is also a member of the board of the Freiburg Football School Association.
