Dirk Dufner

Dirk Dufner (* 20th February 1968 in Hausach ) is a German football - functionary .

Career

Dufner, the son of a lawyer, did not get beyond a youth career as a football player due to a knee injury. He studied in Freiburg and Bonn Jura and completed the legal clerkship u. a. at SC Freiburg and at Cape Town Spurs in South Africa (now bought by Ajax Amsterdam ) . After unsuccessfully applying for a job at FC Barcelona , he worked for three years in the management of VfB Stuttgart from 1997 onwards .

From April 2000 to June 2004 he was sports director under President Karl-Heinz Wildmoser at TSV 1860 Munich . He then went freelance as a sports lawyer in Munich.

On May 24, 2007 Dufner returned to Baden as sports director of SC Freiburg . After internal quarrels, he succeeded Andreas Bornemann . In the 2008/09 season, the club rose to the first division. In spring 2011, the sports club extended the contract with Dufner until 2014. On April 22, 2013, the manager and the club agreed to terminate the contract immediately. On April 23, 2013, one day after the contract was terminated in Freiburg, he was introduced as the new sports director at league rivals Hannover 96 .

In early August 2015 he asked Hannover 96 to terminate his contract shortly after the squad had been put together and the season started; the association met his wish.

Since January 9th, 2017 he has been working as a player consultant at arena11 sports group GmbH.

Private

Dufner has a daughter who lives with her mother in Frankfurt am Main .
