history

The "SVM" had its strongest season in 1978/79, when it was a season after the narrow non-relegation 1st division champion. However, when he narrowly failed in the NLB promotion games, came a long unsuccessful time with a relegation to the 3rd division . In the 1990s, better times followed with promotion to the first division. The high point in 1996 were the promotion games to what was then NLB.

In the 2004/05 season, Muttenz won his 2nd league interregional group a few rounds before the end. Above all, the record-breaking home strength with only one defeat and one draw brought the sovereign return to the first division.

In 2015 SV Muttenz reached the second round of the Swiss Cup for the first time. With 5800 visitors, he set a new attendance record on the Margelacker.

In 2017 SV Muttenz was relegated to the 2 regional league. However, the "one" managed to rise again immediately.

In the 2018/19 season, SV Muttenz succeeded in being promoted to the next higher league.

SV Muttenz currently plays in the 1st League Classic in Group 2.
