The SC Dornach is a Swiss football club from the municipality of Dornach . The club was founded on July 1, 1920 and currently plays in the 2nd interregional league , the fifth highest Swiss division.

history

On August 18, 1918, just before the end of the First World War , the Dornach football club was founded as a “wild” club. "Wild" in the sense of "not affiliated with any association", but also wild in terms of the way you play. The game of that time could hardly be described as cultivated in the sense of today's football.

In 1962 the club was nearly dissolved. Almost all board members had resigned and there was no more money. However, the club was able to win over Willy Pfund , later National Councilor. Under his leadership, the SC Dornach held its Grümpelturnier for the first time . The "village and hut festival" proved to be a success in the following years, both financially and in terms of socializing.

In 1984 the club hired Stefan Schindelholz as a coach. Just one year later, they were promoted to the 3rd division . After more than 30 years, the club was promoted to the second division again in 1988 . For a short time even the promotion to the 1st league succeeded , from which one however was relegated again after the 2006/07 season. Currently (2013/2014), after relegation again, they play in the 2nd interregional league.

Sports facilities

The Gigersloch sports complex consists of a main and a side square. The entire facility was built in 1988 and is covered with natural grass. The main square is equipped with 2500 standing places, the side square with 100. There is no grandstand.

The Gigersloch restaurant is also located on the Gigersloch sports complex and is open daily from 5 p.m. during the season (except Monday). The restaurant offers space for approx. 57 people, another 40 people could be served in an adjoining room. The garden restaurant offers space for 80 people.

Another venue is the Weiden sports field, which consists of a main and an adjacent area. The main square is authorized to play games up to the 3rd league. The side court is mainly used for games in children's football (G to E juniors). The main square offers around 200 standing places.

Both places are covered with natural grass.

The club bar at the Weiden sports field is manned from Monday to Thursday at 5 p.m. during the season and about 1 hour before the start of the match on the weekend.
