The FC Tuggen is a Swiss football club from Tuggen in Canton Schwyz . The club was founded in 1966 and currently plays in the 1st division , the fourth highest Swiss league.

history

The club was founded on November 11, 1966 as SC Tuggen. He was promoted to the 3rd division in 1976; the name change to FC Tuggen followed a year later. With coach Sepp Heidelberger and manager Clemens Dobler, he rose to the 2nd division in 1981. The leap into the first league followed in 1986 as the group first under player-coach Erich Güntensperger in the promotion game against FC Hergiswil (European Cup formula).

In 1991, FC Tuggen reached the quarter-finals of the Swiss Cup : they were eliminated 4-0 against FC Chiasso , then NLA . As the group first in the first division, he rose in 1993/94 under coach Hanspeter Bamert in the National League B (today Challenge League ).

In 1994/95 FC Tuggen played one season in the NLB under coach Erich Güntensperger. He was last after 36 games and was relegated to the first division. In 1996/97 he was group winner of the first division, but lost the promotion game against FC Thun with 0-2. Between 1998 and 2004 he was third in the league, except in the 2000/01 season when he was eighth. In 2011/12 he was champion of the 1st division group 3.

The association is closely connected to its main sponsor Tulux AG, a lighting manufacturer in Tuggen.

Stadion

FC Tuggen plays its home games at the Linthstrasse stadium. The capacity is 2,800 spectators, of which 300 are seated and 2,500 are standing.

The stadium record of 6,250 spectators was set on November 10, 2013 during the cup match against FC Basel .
