Alain Nef (born February 6, 1982 in Wädenswil , Switzerland ) is a former Swiss football player who ended his career at FC Zurich in 2019 .
Career
Nef began his professional career at FC Zurich, for which he played in numerous games from 2001 to 2006 and was able to win the Swiss championship with the team in 2006 . He then signed for Italian club Piacenza Calcio in Serie B a contract. At Piacenza, he immediately secured a regular place and completed two seasons in the second highest Italian league. On August 20, 2008, Alain Nef made his debut for the Swiss national football team in a 4-1 win in a friendly against Cyprus under Ottmar Hitzfeld , making it 3-1 for Switzerland.
In the summer of 2008, Nef moved to Serie A club Udinese Calcio , but was loaned to the relegation-threatened Spanish club Recreativo Huelva , who played in the Spanish Primera División , in early 2009 . The defender rose with Huelva after an unsuccessful season from bottom of the table in the Segunda División and was then awarded by his home club Udinese Calcio to the Serie B club US Triestina .
On August 30, 2010, Nef returned to his home country and joined the BSC Young Boys for one season on loan , with whom he began the third season in the summer of 2012. In early July 2013 it was announced that Nef was returning to his home club FC Zurich, where he signed a two-year contract with an option for one more season.
In May 2019, FC Zurich announced that Nef would end his career at the end of the 2018/19 season.
