The Taça de Prata 1981 was the fourth season of the second soccer division of Brazil .

Season course

The competition started its new season on January 11, 1981 and ended on March 27, 1981. The championship was organized by the national association CBF .

At the end of the season, Guarani FC celebrated the championship. The winners of the group matches in the second round qualified for the first division in 1981 . The four runners-up in the second round contested the semi-finals. The two finalists qualified for the first division in 1982 .

The competition was divided into two group phases, a semi-final and a final.

Here the 12 qualified clubs of the first round met in four groups of three each. In the groups, all clubs competed against each other in the two legs. The best team in each group qualified for the first division in 1981 . The runners-up moved into the semi-finals.
