Season course

The competition started its season on April 15, 2006 and ended on November 25, 2006. The championship was organized by the national association CBF . At the end of the season, Atlético Mineiro was able to celebrate the championship.

For the first time, the competition was no longer divided into different group phases. There was a tournament everyone against everyone with a return leg. The four best rose to the top division in 2007 . The four worst promoted to the Série C in 2007 from. At the end of the season, FIFA deducted three points from Guarani FC , placing the club on a relegation rank. When the player Gilson was planning to move to Samsunspor in 2003, irregularities occurred. The club had received funds from the Turkish club for travel expenses. After the change did not take place, these were not refunded to Samsunspor.
