The Estádio Brinco de Ouro in Campinas , a city of just over a million people in the state of São Paulo in southern Brazil , was built between 1951 and 1953 and opened on May 31, 1953. The future user association Guarani FC and Palmeiras São Paulo met for the first game in the new sports facility . Against the prestigious club from São Paulo Guarani FC prevailed 3-1, with Guarani player Nilo scoring the first goal in the new stadium.

Since 1953, the Estádio Brinco de Ouro has served Guarani FC as a venue for home football matches. The club played first class for almost thirty years and won the Brazilian championship title in 1978 for the first and only time in the club's history. A year later they also advanced to the semi-finals of the Copa Libertadores . During this heyday of the club, the Estádio Brinco de Ouro was expanded and from 1980 it offered space for more than 50,000 people. The attendance record was reached on April 15, 1982, when 52,000 spectators watched the first division game of Guarani FC against Flamengo Rio de Janeiro , which Flamengo won 3-2. Two runners-up championships for Guarani FC also take place in the 1980s. Since the 1990s, however, the club is no longer in these areas and had to complete a few years of second-rate football. After the last relegation from the Campeonato Brasileiro de Futebol in 2010, the Guarani FC was even passed through to the third class Série C, which is why the Estádio Brinco de Ouro currently only plays this league.

In the course of the declining success of Guarani FC and also due to the fact that the club was ousted by AA Ponte Preta as the most successful club in Campinas in recent years , the capacity of the Estádio Brinco de Ouro was also reduced during renovations in 2002 and 2006 again. The stadium currently holds 29,130 spectators. But it is still by far the largest stadium in the city, followed by the Estádio Moisés Lucarelli .
