Harlei de Menezes Silva

Harlei de Menezes Silva (born March 30, 1972 in Belo Horizonte ) is a former Brazilian soccer player .

Career

The goalkeeper began his career at Cruzeiro EC , where he was under contract until 1997. With Cruzeiro he won the Copa Master de Supercopa in 1994, the Copa do Brasil in 1993 and 1996 and the Copa Libertadores in 1997 , but he was mostly only reserve goalkeeper behind Dida .

After working in Comercial Futebol Clube (SP) and Vila Nova , he moved to Goiás EC in July 1999 . In 2003 he gave a positive drug test for furosemide and was banned for four months. In 2005 he was third in the Brazilian championship with Goiás. At the Copa Libertadores 2006 , the club reached the round of 16. He also took part in the Copa Sudamericana with Goiás in 2004, 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2010 . They were most successful at the Copa Sudamericana 2010 , when Goiás reached the finals and only lost to CA Independiente on penalties. In the same year, however, the club had to relegate from the A series. 2012 saw the rise again. That year he completed his 800th game for Goiás. At the end of 2014 he ended his career.
