Álvaro Luiz Maior de Aquino (born April 29, 1979 in Mariápolis ), Álvaro for short , is a Brazilian football player .
Player career
Brazil
Álvaro comes from the youth of the big São Paulo FC, with whom he won two championship titles, in which, however, he had hardly any share. During both seasons he was loaned to other Brazilian clubs for half the season.
Spain
In 2000, Álvaro made the leap to Europe. Although he was able to earn a regular place at the Spanish first division club UD Las Palmas , his first season outside of Brazil was anything but happy. During the season it emerged that he had forged his EU passport. This led to complaints from other teams such as Racing Santander . In the 2000/2001 season he had to suspend some games because of this forgery affair. To smooth things over, Álvaro was awarded to his Brazilian homeland in 2001 (to Atlético Mineiro ), where he became a master.
After the Canary Islands were relegated in 2003, Álvaro moved to Real Saragossa , which had just gotten up. There he spent three successful years with winning the Copa del Rey title in 2004 and winning the Spanish Supercup against Valencia CF in the same year .
From 2006 Álvaro played for UD Levante . In January 2008 he should be sold to the English club Newcastle United , due to the financial difficulties of the Levantines, but this dissolved in favor.
After relegation at the end of the season, he was allowed to leave the club due to its financial problems and went back to his Brazilian homeland, where he signed a contract with SC Internacional .
