Beñat San José Gil (born September 24, 1979 in Donostia-San Sebastián , Basque Country ) is a Spanish football coach . He is considered to be the youngest football coach in Saudi Arabia to win a title.

Coaching career

In summer 2008, San José moved to Real Sociedad San Sebastián , one of the most successful clubs in the Basque Country . Beñat San José initially worked for four years as a youth coach in Donostia-San Sebastián . From 2012 to 2014 San José worked as a coach at Ittihad FC in Saudi Arabia . There he initially trained the U21 team. Because of his great work, however, he was already training the first team six months later. San José is the youngest coach in Saudi Arabia history to win a title in Saudi Arabia. In the 2014/15 season he coached al-Ettifaq , the strongest club in the Dammam area .

In 2018 he was the trainer of the CD Universidad Católica in Chile . After winning the championship with the club, he made use of a clause in his contract to dissolve it prematurely.

He then signed a new two-year contract with the Dubai Club Al-Nasr . After eight games without a win, he was released there at the end of March 2019.

On June 24, 2019, his commitment as the new head coach of the Belgian club KAS Eupen with a contract term of two years was announced.
