Erich "Ete" Beer (born December 9, 1946 in Neustadt bei Coburg ) is a former German soccer player .
career
Erich Beer began his career in the youth of SpVgg Germania Ebing before he moved with his parents to Neustadt bei Coburg and joined the youth department of VfL Neustadt . He played for VfL Neustadt until the end of 1967 and in the spring of 1968 played a few games for the amateur team of SpVgg Fürth , then from 1968 to 1979 as a professional player for 1. FC Nürnberg , Rot-Weiss Essen and Hertha BSC in the Bundesliga . For these clubs he was active as a striker and midfielder in 342 games in the top German division and scored 95 goals. Until a few years ago he was the club's record scorer with 83 goals in 254 Bundesliga games at Hertha BSC before he was outbid by Michael Preetz shortly before the end of his career.
In 1979 he planned to move to the USA or to Racing Strasbourg, but then it was Ittahad Jeddah in Saudi Arabia - and in 1981 Beer moved to the second division TSV 1860 Munich , for which he was active in the Bavarian League until 1984, from 1982 . He was also head coach from 1860 from January 1, 1983 to September 20, 1983 and from November 1, 1984 to November 30, 1984.
On September 24, 1969, Beer played his only international match for the U-23 national team , which lost 2-1 to the hosts in Bucharest . He was used three times in the B national team . On March 11, 1975 he lost with her against the senior team of Ireland in Dublin with 0: 1, against the senior team of Finland he won on April 25, 1975 with her 6-0 - before he went on May 17, 1975 against the Netherlands made his debut in the senior team . From 1975 to 1978 he made a total of 24 international matches and scored seven goals. In 1976 he became vice European champion with the team in Belgrade . Sports reporters liked to call it “the Berlin beer”, which sounds like a Berlin bear . Among the fans he was better known as "Ete" Beer.
Erich Beer now lives in Munich .
